ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jose Serpa Gomez was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and spent his early childhood in the small town of Aguada de Pasajeros before immigrating to San Diego, California at the age of six. Growing up between two cultures cultivated his perspective, allowing him to develop a love for storytelling, adaptation, and the emotional impact of visual experiences. He later graduated from the University of California, San Diego as a Chancellor's Associates Scholars Program (CASP) Scholar, earning Provost Honors.

Jose's artistic practice is centered on digital media, where he combines illustration, lighting, composition, and cinematic rendering to create images that feel as though they belong to a larger narrative. His long-term ambition is to become a graphic novelist, using visual storytelling to build immersive worlds and emotionally driven characters.

Whether through digital artwork or photography, Jose approaches every piece with the same philosophy: every image should tell a story. Through careful manipulation of color, atmosphere, perspective, and light, he transforms ordinary subjects into cinematic moments that invite viewers to imagine what exists beyond the frame. His goal is not only to create visually compelling work, but to elevate each composition into an experience that feels immersive, timeless, and quietly transcendent.
